This game is great because it requires minimal prep and includes adults and kids of all ages. It has simple rules and you can adapt the difficulty for the group playing. It is so much fun to see creativity flow with this game, to see what each team comes up with – it may be something amazing or something hilarious! 😉
Another thing about these printable game cards is that it’s fantastic for teamwork. Depending on what size group you have, you’ll want to split everyone into 2 teams (but can definitely do more if you have a bigger group!).
Then with each turn, the team will alternate who the artist is, giving each person a chance to showcase their skills!

Supplies Needed for this Christmas Game of Pictionary
You only need a few items to play this game, and most likely will already have it at home.
You’ll Need:
- The printed word lists
- Scissors
- A phone timer
- Drawing utensils (pens, pencils, markers, etc.)
- A drawing board – white cardstock or a large dry erase board would be great for this!
What’s Included in the Printable?
The free printable pdf has 5 completely unique pages of word lists, which equal out to 80 different words to use in the Pictionary game. Each word is Christmas themed based on Christmas movies, food, scene, or popular item.
Some of the words will be an action such as ‘reading a Holiday story’. Others may be items or characters like a Christmas tree, candy cane, Santa Claus, etc.
Instructions for the Christmas Pictionary Game
Prep the game
Download and print off the word lists, then cut each word out and fold it in half. Place the folded words in a large bowl. Gather up your drawing supplies, plus a notepad to keep score.
Divide Teams
Split players into 2 or more teams, depending on the group size you have. Each team will need to pick the first person to be the artist for that round.
Timer Setup
Decide on how long you’d like the drawing time to be (1-2 minutes is a good place to start!).
First Round
Each team chooses a player to be the artist for that round. Taking turns, the artist on the first team will pick a word from the bowl without showing it to any other person. Start the timer, and the drawer will start sketching the word on the card. They can ONLY use drawings – NO letters, numbers, or verbal hints allowed.
Guessing Game
The other team members try to guess the word on the card based on what is sketched out. This is all within the time limit given! If the team guesses the correct answer, they earn a point. If they are not able to guess before the time runs out, no points are given and the turn goes to the next team.
Rotate Turns
Alternate between the teams and choose a new artist each time.
Declaring the Winner!
The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!
