This set of Thanksgiving color by number worksheets includes:
10 themed pictures with answer keys (20 pages total). Each page has a Thanksgiving illustration or word/phrase surrounding the season. Each page has a place to write in a name in case you are using these in a classroom setting. The answer keys are fully colored in pictures that can be used as a guide or a poster to hang on the wall.
A fun way to get some learning in!
Read below how your child can easily get some extra school work practice in with these coloring sheets:
Number Recognition
Have your child work on recognizing the different numbers by finding them in the picture and pairing them with the correct color at the bottom of the page.
Fine Motor Skills
Strengthen those fine motor skills by having your child use a colored pencil or crayon to complete the pictures! Some of the pages have a few small spots to color in, so that is the perfect time to get some extra practice in.
Color Recognition
Talk with your child about what colors would parts of the picture normally have (like green for a pumpkin stem, a flower might be yellow, etc.) Then encourage them to find the correct colors at the bottom of the page by matching the correct numbers.
Encourage independent work
Inspire your child to do the coloring book pages independently after they understand the end goal. They will be so pleased with themselves after completing it on their own and will be a great boost of confidence for them!
These color by number coloring pages are great to use on a rainy day, a festive way to celebrate the month of November, or just to get some extra practice in for schoolwork!
Add these color by number activities into your child’s daily routine:
Regardless if you are homeschooling or not, these activities are a great way to get some extra learning practice in. Checkout the examples below on how easy it can be!
Morning Baskets
Morning baskets are perfect to entertain your child for a few minutes while you are finishing breakfast, getting the dog taken care of, or just needing a few extra moments to sip your coffee and wake up. These baskets usually include some quiet activities and books that your child doesn’t normally get to see during the day, so it makes it extra special (and entertaining!).
Some cute turkey coloring pages (like the ones in the pack! 😉 ) would be the perfect addition to your child’s morning basket.
Travel Activity Pack for Car (And Other Places!)
If you spend any time traveling (even to the grocery store), you already know how nice it is to have an easy activity on backup to entertain your child for a bit. Younger and big kids alike will love to have something to do while waiting.
Church Activity Pack
These printables are also a great addition if you use an activity pack for younger children at church. Add a few pages in the bag with colored pencils or crayons, and you’ll have some occupied kids before long.
Add to Homeschool Lesson Plans
If you are looking to work on color/number recognition, coloring in the lines, and encourage creative play, these Thanksgiving sheets are great to add in your regular schoolwork plans.
I love reading stories to my kids while they are coloring or working on a craft. It keeps them entertained WAY longer and gets their brains more engaged, whether they realize it or not. 🙂

What ages are these color by number printables ideal for?
I made these worksheets with younger kids in mind, so most of the pictures are very straightforward using a few colors and big illustrations. (There are a few caveats to that though: A couple of the pictures have 8-9 colors used, and a few small areas to color in.) These pages are great for older children or extra practice with some guidance for younger students.

What are your family’s favorite activities to do in the fall? What new things are you trying out this year? Let me know in the comments below!
Those early newborn days are like no other… The precious snuggles, the little shape of baby’s little feet, the adorable scrunch that baby does while yawning… You just want to remember absolutely everything. And what better way to remember this special phase in your baby’s life than to schedule a newborn photography session?! Capture allllllll the priceless moments on camera – that way you can look back on them for years to come.
Now that you’ve picked a newborn photographer and scheduled the session, the next stop is figuring out what to wear. And it can be downright STRESSFUL picking out the perfect outfits. Whether you are planning a studio shoot or an at-home lifestyle shoot, there are some things to keep in mind:
Picking out colors that will coordinate well together AND with the season of weather.
Outfits that everyone likes and is comfortable in.
A change of clothes for baby… because IYKYK, and if you don’t then I have two words for you:
Poo. Explosion.
I don’t know why every baby wakes up on the day of photos and chooses THAT day to ruin their best outfit…but I digress 😉
With all that being said, preparing for a family photo shoot can have a lot of moving parts, but it doesn’t have to be stressful with this guide!
Once you find a great photographer to work with, combined with this outline on exactly what to wear – you will be set up for a great session to grab some beautiful photos.
Checkout these examples below to take the guesswork and worry out of what to wear for your newborn photography session.
The examples below are from various lifestyle newborn photographers all over the U.S., who were so incredibly kind to allow me to include their photos in this post. I will leave their link below each photo – please take a moment to check them out!
Let’s dive right in!
First things first: Talk and plan with your photographer before the date of your appointment
Before the day of your booking arrives, make sure to touch base with your photographer to see what vision they have for your session! This will help to make sure you are both on the same page and you can get all the shots that you had in mind for you and your family.
If you are doing an in-home photoshoot, ask about which shots your photographer is thinking of and how best to set up the space they will be working in. Take note of what your background will be (color of the walls, light colors, bold colors, etc.), so you can pick outfit choices that coordinate well with the environment you’ll be in.
If you’re doing an outside photoshoot, check to see what colors will be prominent in the background such as a wooded area, lake, red barn, or meadow with white flowers for example.
Now you can prepare your outfits to compliment the area you will be posing in.
Now is the time to decide what type of color palette that you are more drawn to. Picking out a color scheme right off the bat can really help take a lot of the headache out of deciding on outfits (especially if you have a big family!).
This way you won’t get halfway through ordering the outfits and realize that you actually wanted your newborn to wear a light pink dress, but the rest of the family will be wearing Christmas reds and greens. (Speaking from experience on that one! 😉 )
Take a step back from looking at the latest trends and take note of what you are naturally drawn to…You may prefer dresses over jeans, or a cozy sweater, bright colors vs neutrals, etc.
No matter what, go with something you love and is truly ‘you’!
The most important thing is to pick out something you are comfortable in (which means better pictures!), and also something that will stay ‘in style’ no matter how many years down the road – because it is YOU!
Speaking of color schemes again – Try finding a palette that compliments each other without becoming too ‘matchy matchy’.
Different tones of the same color can do this, or some solid colors with a printed top thrown in somewhere, or even a bold bright dress…
This gives each person in the pictures a chance to show off their individual style while still creating harmony with the overall scene… which will result in beautiful pictures!
Textures are an amazing way to add unique character to the photos and you can do this no matter what your personal style is!
No matter if you prefer bright colors or more natural tones, texture is an easy thing to add – even if it is just a crocheted shawl for your dress, or sweater with knit twill.
Texture also shows up beautifully in black and white pictures!
None other goes best with a beach photo scene than long, flowy dresses! Try coordinating your outfits around where you will be taking photos. Remember the background colors or where you’ll be, what outfits will look most natural in the environment, and can take your photoshoot to the next level.
For example:
A cozy outfit with an oversized sweater might make more sense if taking candid photos at home.
A casual, flowy dress would look amazing against a lake or open water background.
Different tones of blue would go great if posing by an old, red barn.
I think sometimes color and print get a bad rap these days because different tones of beige are all the rage right now.
But listen! Adding a pop of color (or colors!) is amazing at bringing focus to your new little bundle of joy and also adds your own personal touch to the family photos.
This goes back to what I said above about dressing in what you TRULY love and are comfortable in! Is it more your personality to dress in neon colors rather than a muted neutral? Then absolutely go for it!! You will treasure your pics that much more if you remember the feeling you felt while taking them, which I hope is feeling comfortable AND beautiful.
Final Thoughts
Picking outfits for a lifestyle newborn photo session can quickly get overwhelming, especially with a newborn baby at home to care for. But listen – it doesn’t have to be! Let this guide be an outline to easily pick your outfit colors and style to take any worries you may have about your upcoming photoshoot.
There are so many beautiful ways to add dimension and character to your photos, without having to do anything complicated. Read above how you can do that too!
Save this for later so you can refer back again and again.

Stressing out about whether your baby is too cold or hot during the night while sleeping? It’s easy to do, especially when they are tiny new babies. But guess what? It doesn’t have to be stressful or complicated!
It’s recommended to keep your baby’s room between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit. Anything above or below those numbers can affect your little one’s sleep quality due to being more sensitive to temp changes.
Read below to find out exactly how to dress baby for sleep in a 68 degree room (Hint, there’s a system to it!). Also checkout the free printable cheat sheet below on how to dress your baby according to different temperatures.
Please keep in mind that everything written below does not replace medical advice. If you are unsure, always reach out to a medical professional to find out what is best for your baby. This is simply an account of what I’ve found to be true as a momma of two, and what has worked for my family. 🙂
First things first: Use a swaddle or wearable blanket with the appropriate TOG rating
Avoid using loose blankets for your baby because that can be very dangerous for them and increase the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Sleep sacks are a great alternative that can keep baby warm AND safe.
Most swaddle blankets that come from a reputable company have a TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) rating, which tells you how warm and insulated that garment will be for your baby to wear overnight. This is super helpful when dressing baby for sleep because you have an idea on where to start!
Basically, a higher TOG rating means there is more insulation and padding for warmth and a lower TOG rating means less fabric/warmth which is great for summertime or higher room temps.
A TOG rating of 1.0 to 2.5 is considered best for a room set to 68 degrees.
What about layers?
You may want to consider an additional layer under the swaddle or sleep sack that you picked out for your baby.
With a lower TOG rated sleep sack, a footed sleeper may be best underneath or even a fleece sleeper if the sleep blanket is on the lighter side.
For a warmer sleep sack that is thicker or perhaps made out of fleece, a light pj set may be better.
The main thing to remember with sleep sacks is that they are sleeveless – so you definitely want some type of layer with long sleeves underneath to keep your baby’s little arms warm enough.
What if we don’t use a sleep sack or swaddle?
Because babies are really just tiny little bosses, sometimes they don’t always go with the flow of what us parents want. 😉 I could tell this VERY clearly with my own two little ones. My son did absolutely wonderful with the Love to Dream swaddles, (or aka flying squirrel swaddles as I like to call them… you’ll see why if you see a picture of them LOL). In fact we used them throughout each size and stage that he grew into!
When my daughter was born, she used swaddles for about the first month and then was D. O. N. E. with them! Turns out, she slept way better with just a regular sleep sack and footie pjs.
It really just depends on the child with what they will resonate with and what will help them sleep in the long run.
If your child doesn’t do great with sleep sacks that’s okay! Let’s figure out a modification that they do well with.
In a 68 degree bedroom, I would first try a fleece sleeper and see how your baby does with that. If they are a little too cold, try layering a short-sleeved onesie underneath. If they get a bit too hot, try switching to a regular footed sleeper with a onesie underneath that.
It’s all about figuring out what works and running with it!
How to know if my baby is too hot or cold?
If you think baby is getting too hot, feel the back of his/her neck and belly to see if it is sweaty or if their skin feels a little clammy. A lot of times if babies are too hot, they won’t be sleeping as well and may be squirming around more.
Try taking a layer off to see if that helps to cool your little one down. You can also offer baby a nursing session or bottle to get some fluids in their system. If your baby still seems hot, try wiping down his/her’s forehead, back of neck, belly, and back with a cool washcloth.
If you are worried about your baby getting too cold, checking the back of their head is a good rule of thumb for this too. You can also check their arms and belly – If they feel cool to touch and baby isn’t sleeping well, you may want to get an extra layer on him/her.
If they are really chilled, the best way for a baby to regulate body temperature is to do skin-to-skin by placing baby on your chest for a bit. This is an amazing method to use not just on newborns, but older babies as well! It can help manage baby’s temperature, heart rate, encourage bonding, and even releases the best type of hormones such as: oxytocin, prolactin, and endorphins! Source
Remember momma, you know best in this. If you feel that something isn’t right or your baby isn’t comfortable – trust your gut and do what you think will help.

This is a great resource to hang up near your baby’s closet or put in your babysitter’s binder for next time they are watching your little one.
What if my baby has cold hands and cold feet every night?
If your baby’s core is a normal temp and he or she is still sleeping well, then it shouldn’t be an issue that your baby’s hands and feet are on the colder side. In fact, this is pretty normal!
If you’re worried, you can always put them in footed sleepwear that also has little hand covers to help with this.
Keep in mind of where baby’s crib is located
If your little one seems uncomfortable a lot during the night, you may take note of where the crib has been placed in the room.
Is it in line with the air conditioning or heat vent? Maybe the ceiling fan pushing just a little bit too much air around?
Even though the room may be set to the ideal temperature, the fan or heat coming through the vent may be a little much if the crib is right next to it.
Try moving the crib to another wall or space to see if that helps any – or maybe turning the fan on low instead.
You’ll want to avoid doing this
Using any type of loose bedding
For safety reasons, you never ever want to use loose blankets in the crib. The risk of sudden infant death syndrome is just too high and dangerous to take that chance. Instead, use a safe alternative like a sleep sack so it won’t ever move around the crib while baby is sleeping.
Over dressing
It’s easy to bundle baby up to make sure they stay nice and warm all night, but we want baby to stay at the right temperature – and that also includes avoiding baby getting too warm. If you find that your baby naturally stays on the warmer side, try using clothes that are made with breathable fabrics instead. That may look like using just a light sleeper with a TOG rated 1.0 sleep sack.

Final Thoughts
Remember to always test out different methods to see what works for your individual child. What may work great for one, might not go too well with another. Some babies just run on the warmer side than others! Watch and listen to want signs your baby is giving you and dress according to what they need.
You know your gut, momma! Remember to check in with yourself and see what your gut is trying to tell you. More often than not, you already know the answer to what is best for your baby.
Safe sleep practices is always the #1 most important thing when it comes to what to dress your baby in warmer or cooler temperature. Avoid loose blankets at all costs and stick to a safe option like a sleep sack with additional layers if needed. Always follow the ABC’s of Safe Sleep.

This easy playdough recipe will be added to your favorite recipes collection the very first time you make it. It takes minutes to pull together, calls for ingredients that you already have at home, and it lasts for months!
The very best part? It has a secret ingredient that will give the playdough a fantastic scent and color!
So break out your saucepan, grab your kids for this fun activity, and see how many different colors and scents you can come up with!
Listen, I’ve made A LOT of different recipes in the past for playdough. Some turn out just ‘okay’, others crack and dry out way too soon, and others just don’t set up at all.
Time and time again I keep going back to this tried and true recipe. You just simply can’t beat it.
I can say with confidence that this is THE BEST playdough recipe that you will ever make. My family has made this recipe for years – it has been perfected, loved, passed around.. And now I want to share it with you on how exactly you can make this soft playdough today.
Read below to see why this homemade play dough recipe is simply the best of the best.
It holds together perfectly and doesn’t crack, split, or crumble
Grab this DIY play dough out of the closet after it’s been sitting for 2 weeks and it will still work perfectly for little hands, just as it does when you first make it.
It has a great consistency and stretch so you never have to deal with any annoying cracking or breaking apart.
A cost effective recipe
Store-bought playdough can get expensive, especially when you want to get all different colors.. (because of course!)
But what if you didn’t have to worry about the ACTUAL playdough?? What if you had that covered, so all you needed to worry about was all the fun playdough tools to buy??
That is exactly what you can do.
To make this recipe, it cost me under a dollar to make. Seriously!
This edible playdough recipe has common ingredients that you most likely already have at home!
It last a LONG TIME and smells so good
As long as you store the playdough in an airtight container, it will keep for months. Just check it every so often to make sure it hasn’t dried out and you’re good to go.
This easy recipe calls for one kool aid packet that will not only color it, but also give it a fun scent!
It smells so good – good luck on keeping your kids from tasting it. 😉 But just in case they do, that leads me to my next point:
There are no weird chemical ingredients
Everything included in this homemade play dough is completely safe and non toxic for young children to enjoy.
If your child ends up trying it, don’t feel bad. My three year old ALWAYS tries it and then quickly remembers why he doesn’t like it with the amount of salt in it. LOL
What Ingredients Are Needed for Kool-Aid Playdough?
All purpose flour
Nothing special here, just any flour you have on hand at home will do.
Salt
Same as above – grab a cheap container of Morton’s salt at the grocery store to use in this recipe.
Cream of Tartar – Don’t Skip!!!
Cream of tartar is a very important ingredient to include because it helps the play dough have a gel-like form. If you omit this ingredient, it may not set up correctly.
Water
Didn’t I say this recipe would be simple? 😉
Oil
Any oil for kitchen use will be great. I use rendered beef tallow for mine, but that is just because it is what I have on hand at home. Vegetable oil, olive oil, canola, or coconut oil are all great options… really any cooking oil!
And the star of the show: Kool aid!
Each batch of play dough needs one packet of unsweetened Kool aid. Encourage your child to have fun with this! Pick out all different types of kool aid flavors and make several batches to see what colors and scents each one will have.
Cookie cutters, mini rolling pin, other cool playdough tools…
I guess this one isn’t REQUIRED, but it definitely makes this sensory play a lot more fun. 🙂
How to Make the Best Homemade Playdough Recipe
Ingredients
1 Cup of Flour
½ Cup of Salt
1 Packet of Unsweetened Kool-aid
2 Teaspoons Cream of Tartar
1 ½ Tablespoons of Oil (Vegetable, Canola, Coconut, etc.)
1 Cup of Water
Directions
Measure out the dry ingredients and place in a saucepan. Add the water and oil to the rest of the mixture.
Stir using a spatula or wooden spoon and heat up the mixture over medium heat while stirring constantly. (VERY IMPORTANT so playdough won’t burn.)
It will start to thicken very quickly. Keep stirring as the playdough thickens and pull off the heat once it forms into a ball. This will all happen within 3-5 minutes.
Don’t worry about a few places that may look ‘underdone’, or any lumps of flour left. You’re going to knead all that out here in a minute.
Place fresh playdough on some parchment paper or on a countertop to cool down for a minute. Once it is a bit cooler, go ahead and knead it for a few minutes to remove any lumps.
Now it’s ready for all the fun projects your child has in mind! Store in an air-tight container or ziploc bag to keep it from drying out. This should keep for at least a month, if not longer.
Make additional batches using different Kool aid flavors to add more colors to your collection.

FAQS
Will this playdough stain hands or surfaces?
While I always recommend placing a vinyl tablecloth down on the surface your child is playing on, I have never seen this recipe stain any surface or hands.
Can I make one huge batch of the playdough?
If you are doing all one color of playdough then absolutely! If you are wanting different colors though, you’ll need to do each batch separately. The good thing is that each batch only takes a few minutes to whip up!
What if my batch of playdough came out dry?
If your batch of playdough came out on the drier side, it was probably cooked for a little too long. You want to pull it off the heat just after it forms a ball, and it may still look ‘underdone’ in some places. That’s okay! It will all be kneaded together after it cools down a bit.
